About the position:
This is a great opportunity to gain voluntary experience working in a friendly team within a dynamic and high-impact charity working internationally to secure environmental justice. The Environmental Justice Foundation is seeking a friendly, committed and outgoing fundraising volunteer to support our campaigns to protect oceans, forests and our global climate. The role is ideal for someone looking to move into the charity sector or more experienced candidates returning to work.
Dynamic, agile and effective, the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is working to secure a world where natural habitats and environments can sustain, and be sustained by, the communities that depend upon them for their basic needs and livelihoods.
The role is voluntary for a period of 3 months+, minimum of 1 day per week. Based in the Bath office, local (Bath / Bristol) travel costs will be paid together with a lunch allowance. Remote working and flexibility for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be educated to degree-level in a relevant discipline and have demonstrable research and writing skills, and excellent attention to detail. Ideally, you’ll have experience in performing internet research and using your creative thinking to find solutions and information that will build our income and support. Knowledge of fundraising, grants, corporate social responsibility or events management is an advantage.
Objective: Support EJF’s Fundraising team, helping to identify prospect sources of funding or potential collaborations, prioritizing opportunities and working with the team to create compelling materials that can help secure new income to support the campaigns.
This may include:
1. Researching a wide variety of companies who have an interest in environmental responsibilities. Tasks will include reviewing their existing or previous partnerships and particular charitable interests, as well as locating the most suitable contacts.
2. Seeking out potential university partnerships, including researching open calls for Raising and Giving charity applications, fairs and events where EJF may wish to have a presence and specific university societies whose interests match EJF’s.
3. Researching prospect grant funders relating to EJF’s campaigns. Our current focus is on identifying funding opportunities to support our work on climate and forests, building sustainability in the fashion industry, and supporting community conservation and plastic-reduction projects in Ghana and Liberia.
To apply, please send your CV and a short cover letter (including your availability: start date and preferred days) to email@example.com by 20th July 2019.
